Hellenic Veterinary Medical Society
The Hellenic Veterinary Medical Society (HVMS) is one of the oldest Scientific Societies in Greece. It was founded in 1924 and its first scientific journal was published in 1926.
Prompter, Founder and Animating Spirit of HVMS was the General Ioannis D. Petridis (1870-1947), first President and for many years Honorary President of the HVMS.
Among the 49 founding members of the HVMS there was also the memorable professor Konstantinos Livadas, the founder of the Veterinary School of the Aristotelian University in Thessaloniki. In spite of the disagreements, the HVMS contributed greatly to the foundation of Veterinary School.
